For what reason was Stalin's son not buried in the capital?

Vasily Stalin died in 1962, the burial place is Kazan. Why was the son of a noble politician not buried in the capital? At first glance, everything seems illogical, but there are explanations for this event. Until 2022, Dzhugashvili's body remained in Kazan - why did he end up there?

The son of the leader of the people after the Second World War worked in aviation. During the life of an influential father, Vasily was doing well. However, serious problems began in 1952. Vasily Iosifovich came to the state reception in an intoxicated state. At a political event, he was publicly condemned by Marshal Zhigarev. On May 1 of the same year, two Il-28 bombers were defeated. Joseph Stalin blamed Vasily for such a failure. Later he was removed from aviation, enrolled as a student at the Voroshilov Academy. Dzhugashvili did not show any particular zeal for study. Life began to change dramatically after the death of his father.

Defense Minister Bulganin ordered Vasily Stalin to leave the capital. In a new place, he would have been fine, but Vasily refused. He liked Moscow, but then he began to drink heavily. On April 28, 1953, Vasily Iosifovich was arrested and charged with anti-Soviet activities - he was sentenced to eight years in prison. The culprit is sent to Vladimir Central under a different patronymic and surname. Here the prisoner asked for a job as a mechanic. His wife brought him two suitcases with working tools.

Due to prison conditions, health problems arose. The son of the leader of the people wrote to the Soviet leaders for help, but they rejected his letters. In 1960, he was nevertheless released, but when he arrived in Moscow, he knocked out the car of a foreign ambassador, and he was also found near the Chinese embassy: he allegedly spread slander about the Soviet regime. And again ended up in prison - now in Lefortovo.

In 1961, Vasily Iosifovich was sent to Kazan. There were almost no foreigners in the city. Stalin's son's surname was changed - now he was known as Vasily Dzhugashvili. Family life was completely destroyed due to alcohol addiction. In 1962, Vasily dies. Khrushchev forbade the burial of the son of the famous leader of the people in Moscow because of envy of his father's achievements. The body rested at the Arsk cemetery, but in 2020 the remains were transferred to Moscow.
